Brewster man plans to buy new car, phone after winning $4M lottery prize

A Brewster man recently scored a $4 million prize after purchasing a $10 scratch ticket at the Cumberland Farms at 2639 Main St.

Adam Dewitt won the prize in the Massachusetts State Lottery’s “$4,000,000 Diamonds” $10 instant ticket game. According to a press release from the state lottery website, he opted to receive his prize in the form of a onetime payment of $2,600,000 before taxes.

He plans to use some of his winnings to buy a car and new phone, according to the notice.

The Cumberland Farms store will receive a $40,000 bonus for its sale of the winning ticket.

In December, a Buzzards Bay woman was the first $10 million prize winner in the lottery's "$10,000,000 Cash King" instant ticket game, according to the state lottery commission's website.

Helen Cicoria claimed her winnings from a winning ticket she bought at the Speedy Mart gas station at 2238 Cranberry Highway in West Wareham. The store received a $50,000 bonus for its sale of the ticket.

In 2021, Leonard Thomas of South Dennis arrived at lottery headquarters in Dorchester to claim a $500,000 Powerball prize — a little more than 24 hours before the ticket expired.
