Brian Smith: Twin Valley, Wilson advance to the BCIAA boys tennis team tournament final

Apr. 23—Twin Valley and Wilson advanced to the BCIAA boys tennis team tournament championship match with semifinal victories Saturday.

The Berks I champion Raiders defeated Berk I third-place and defending champion Conrad Weiser 3-0, while the Berks I runner-up Bulldogs beat Berks II champ Wyomissing 3-0.

The final will be Monday at 4 p.m. at Muhlenberg.

At Twin Valley, the Raiders (12-0) got straight-set wins from Jackson Bonds at No. 1 singles, Dylan Bond at No. 2 singles and Charles Beebe at No. 3 singles vs. the Scouts (11-3). Twin Valley had clinched the match before the doubles matches were completed.

At Wyomissing, the Bulldogs (9-5) got straight-set wins from Will Hill at No. 1 singles, Ben Winkler at No. 2 singles and from the team of Austin Kohler and Jay Khamar at No. 1 doubles.

Nate Renenger led at No. 3 singles for the Spartans (10-1) when Wilson clinched the match. The Bulldogs' team of Gavin Siravo and Griffin Saar also led at No. 2 doubles.

Twin Valley defeated Wilson 4-3 Thursday in league play.

The Raiders are looking for their first Berks title. The Bulldogs last won the county title in 2017.
