  2. San Diego County representatives are preparing for primary challenges in new districts. U.S. Rep. Mike Levin (D) faces a potential rematch with his previous opponent Brian Maryott, along with challenges from other Republicans, including Oceanside City Councilmember Chris Rodriguez and Orange County Supervisor Lisa Bartlett in the June primary.   3. People who experienced a previous infection with COVID-19 were more equipped to handle the delta variant than those who were vaccinated alone, California and New York health officials reported last week.   4. The number of passengers boarding North County Transit District buses and trains declined by 46 percent systemwide in fiscal 2020-21, a new report shows. Breeze bus boardings declined by 42 percent in fiscal 2021, while Sprinter trains were down 41 percent.
