Bridge work forces closure of I-70 ramp for Sharpsburg Pike until September

A ramp off Interstate 70 at Sharpsburg Pike will be closed through September due to a bridge widening project on the interstate, according to the Maryland State Highway Administration.

Beginning at 8 p.m. Monday, an I-70 ramp for Sharpsburg Pike, also known as Exit 29 B, will be closed as part of work to widen an interstate bridge over Sharpsburg Pike, the highway department said in a news release. Crews will be working on the outer lane of the eastbound portion of the bridge during the period, according to the release.

The ramp will be closed until September.

Motorists will follow a posted detour to U.S. 40, also known as Old National Pike, then west to I-70 westbound to Sharpsburg Pike, according to the release.

C. William Hetzer of Hagerstown is the firm conducting the work.
