Bridge Two on County Road 106 closed indefinitely due to deteriorating beams

COSHOCTON − The Coshocton County Engineer's Office announced on Tuesday that Bridge Two on County Road 106 in Linton Township was closed and would be so indefinitely due to a structural issue.

The road is closed from Township Road 121 to Township Road 119. Motorists should use alternative routes.

Deputy Engineer Josh Kempf said what is known as stringers, or beams under the bridge, need to be replaced and they don't have it in their budget to do at the moment. He's currently putting together estimated costs for repair and then the office will pursue grant funding.

"Right now, it depends on where the funding is going to come from," Kempf said on how long the bridge will be closed. "There's a lot up in the air with it right now we haven't quite got figured out."

The self-weathering steel trussed bridge is 143 feet long and goes over Wills Creek. Kempf said it's a low traffic area. The suggested detour, he said, is County Road 106 to County Road 93 to County Road 410 to Township Road 121 to County Road 106, and reverse for the other direction.
