Bridgeport man facing federal charges after selling ‘ghost guns’ to undercover officers in Massachusetts, prosecutors say
A Bridgeport man has been charged in Massachusetts with dealing firearms without a federal license after prosecutors said he sold and delivered two “ghost guns” to undercover officers.
Brian McCarthy, 33, was arrested July 31 and has been in state custody since, the U.S. Attorneys Office announced Wednesday evening. He will appear in federal court in Boston at a hearing that has not yet been scheduled.
Prosecutors said McCarthy traveled to Massachusetts in June and July to sell two Glock-style guns he made by ordering individual firearm parts and assembling them into functional weapons himself.
The resulting guns are untraceable weapons without serial numbers, prosecutors noted.
