Bridgeport police investigate woman’s homicide

Bridgeport police said they are investigating a woman’s homicide.

Officers who were asked to check the well being of someone at 176 Goddard Ave. Sunday found the woman’s body in the home. She had suffered a violent death; there were signs of trauma to her body, police said.

Police said the woman was Jennifer Brelsford, 40.

Detectives are trying to determine the circumstances surrounding Brelsford’s death and were at the scene late into the night, Capt. Brian Fitzgerald said at 11:30 p.m. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
