Fans of Bridgerton have been shocked to learn that two of its stars also appeared in the Harry Potter franchise.

Netflix’s period drama has proved a huge hit with audiences since the release of its first season on Christmas Day 2020. The series centres on the Bridgertons, an aristocratic family, and their relationship with the Featheringtons.

British actor and model Freddie Stroma makes a memorable appearance in the series as Prince Friederich of Prussia, the queen’s nephew.

Stroma previously played the role of Hogwarts student Cormac McLaggen in Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince and both instalments of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Regé-Jean Page, meanwhile, plays the eligible bachelor Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings in Bridgerton. He also appeared in the Harry Potter franchise, as an uncredited extra during the wedding scene in Deathly Hallows part one.

Many fans of Bridgerton and JK Rowling’s wizarding franchise weren’t aware that either actor had in fact cropped up in both projects – until the observation was shared on social media.

“THE PRINCE FROM BRIDGERTON IS FREAKIN MCLAGGEN FROM HARRY POTTER,” wrote one shocked viewer, posting a side-by-side comparison of the two roles.

“I’m literally mind blown,” wrote someone else.

Page recently laughed off rumours that he could be in the running to take over from Daniel Craig as James Bond, after appearing to tease an interest in the role on social media.

The first season of Bridgerton is available to watch now on Netflix.
