Bridgerton star among new cast joining Jodie Whittaker for new Netflix series

Bridgerton star Claudia Jessie has been announced as joining the cast of new Netflix drama Toxic Town.
The actress, best known for playing Eloise Bridgerton in the hit Netflix period drama, was confirmed as one of three new stars signed on to the project, including Game of Thrones actor Joe Dempsie and Michael Socha of This Is England and Being Human fame.
They'll join Doctor Who's Jodie Whittaker and Sex Education star Aimee Lou Wood in the four-part limited series, who were previously announced as part of the all-star line-up alongside The Full Monty actor Robert Carlyle, plus Bond star Rory Kinnear and Brendan Coyle (Downton Abbey).

The casting news was shared on Netflix UK's official Instagram account. "Introducing three new (and familiar!) additions to the cast of Toxic Town," began the post's caption.
"They join the already announced names in Jack Thorne's limited series based on the real-life story of the Corby poisonings."
The Netflix drama is based on the Corby poisonings, which led to a high-profile legal case at London's High Court in 2009.
Corby is a Northamptonshire town once home to a steelworks which closed in the early 1980s – but not before a huge amount of toxic waste was deposited there.
Between 1984 and 1999 Corby Borough Council oversaw efforts to remove the waste from the area which led to the contamination of populated areas and communities and a subsequent effect on local residents and their health.
A landmark case was brought by 18 families representing 19 young people, who alleged that toxic waste dumped during this period was the cause of birth defects.
The council was found liable in negligence, public nuisance and a breach of statutory duty by a High Court judge. In 2010, the council announced it had dropped plans to appeal the decision, admitted to "mistakes in its clean-up of the former British Steel site years ago", and agreed a financial settlement with the families.
Actresses Jodie Whittaker and Aimee Lou Wood were both spotted filming scenes for the upcoming Netflix drama this month.
Filming was allowed to go ahead, with Toxic Town deemed a UK production under the actors' union Equity, rather than the Hollywood-based actor and writer unions that are currently striking.
There have been no character details shared to date, but writer Jack Thorne confirmed in a press statement that the series will focus on the "funny, brave, incredible women and the way they scrapped for their children" to see justice done.
Bridgerton seasons 1-2 are streaming now on Netflix, along with Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.
