Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan is set to present a new podcast on BBC Sounds titled History's Youngest Heroes.

Per the press release, Derry Girls star Coughlan will narrate the podcast which serves as a spin off to last year's History's Secret Heroes podcast.

"With jaw dropping tales of heroism, deception, and acts of bravery and resistance, Nicola will share some of the most awe-inspiring stories of the youngest heroes in history. From Nelson Mandela to Audrey Hepburn, listeners will be gripped by Nicola's superb storytelling for this hotly anticipated new podcast," reads the official description.

Presented by Helena Bonham Carter, History’s Secret Heroes tackled subjects such as World War Two and shine a light on "extraordinary stories".

Meanwhile, Coughlan is currently gearing up to take centre stage in season three of the popular Netflix period drama Bridgerton as her character Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton become this year's romantic leads.

Speaking recently to Digital Spy and other press, Coughlan and Colin star Luke Newton opened up about how far they've come since season one, saying that despite the apparent "glow up" the on-screen friends are still "big nerds".

"I think what was really fun [about playing] the romantic leads of this year is that you've seen these characters for three years so to see us play different versions of Colin and Pen from season one, they felt like children," Newton said.

Coughlan added: "Yeah they're so different. It's weird for us, we say all the time that the last thing the fans have really seen is season two, because it feels like a really different show and i'’s interesting because they get these glow-ups, aesthetically, but then you realise that they're still these big nerds. Then they try [but] you're like: 'You're not cool, you're not cool at all.'"

Bridgerton seasons 1-2 are streaming now on Netflix, along with Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. Season 3 premieres in two parts, on May 16 and June 13.
