Bridgeton man accused of fatal stabbing in Trenton

TRENTON - A Cumberland County man is accused of a fatal stabbing here.

James B. Draper, 46, of Bridgeton is charged with the murder of 40-year-old Corey Jones of Trenton, according to the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office.

Jones was attacked by a knife-wielding man on a sidewalk near Cross Street and Kersey Alley around 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, the prosecutor's office said in a statement.

The victim, stabbed multiple times near his heart, died shortly after being taken to a hospital, according to a probable cause statement.

Draper was arrested in Bridgeton on Oct. 25, and is being held in Mercer County Jail.

He is also charged with multiple weapons offenses.

The charges against Draper are only allegations. He has not been convicted in the case.

An investigation is ongoing.
