Bridgeville police officer on leave after allegedly hitting pedestrian with patrol car

Channel 11 has learned exclusively that a Bridgeville police officer is on administrative leave and under investigation by Allegheny County Police after he hit a pedestrian with his patrol car while on duty.

It happened just steps away from the police department.

The woman, who we’ve learned is in her late 20s, was walking across a pedestrian walkway when she was hit by the patrol car.

Bridgeville’s police chief said they’re handling this according to protocol and turned the investigation over to neighboring Collier police.

They requested the assistance of the county police homicide and the accident reconstruction unit. County police investigators say the woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The officer stayed with the woman until medics arrived.
