A Bridgewater man was arraigned on a murder charge after bludgeoning his neighbor to death, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz said. Sixty-nine-year-old Dinis Moreira was arraigned in Brockton District Court after allegedly bludgeoning his Spring Street neighbor Valerie Oakhem, 58, to death, the DA’s office said in a written statement.

A high school student was killed Tuesday night when she was struck by an MBTA Commuter Rail train, officials said. Whitman police were notified by Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority Transit Police about 8:30 p.m. of a crash that occurred in Whitman in which a southbound train struck a pedestrian on the tracks. The victim, a juvenile female, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Whitman police and fire officials. Whitman-Hanson Regional School District Superintendent Jeffrey Szymaniak confirmed that the victim was a student of Whitman-Hanson Regional High School.

Sixty-nine-year-old Dinis Moreira was arraigned in Brockton District Court after allegedly bludgeoning his Spring Street neighbor Valerie Oakhem, 58, to death, the DA’s office said in a written statement. Oakhem's distraught family members gathered in Brockton District Court Friday afternoon for the arraignment.

A Quincy-based chain of medical clinics and urgent care facilities with locations in Easton, East Bridgewater, Taunton, Quincy, Braintree and Middleboro said Wednesday it is abruptly closing all six of its offices “effective immediately.” "It is with our deepest regret and great sadness to inform you of our imminent plan to close our practices. After a steady stream of challenges, we were ultimately forced to make the devastating decision to close all offices of Compass Medical effective immediately," Compass Medical posted in a written statement on its website Wednesday evening.
