Bridgewater-Raynham baseball bows out to Franklin in Elite Eight

FRANKLIN— Bridgewater-Raynham baseball's impressive season has come to a close.

The No. 9 Trojans battled hard but ultimately fell to No. 1 Franklin 5-0 on the road Saturday in the Division I Elite Eight and wrap up their season, the first under head coach Mike Connolly, with an overall record of 17-6.

B-R kept the Panthers' potent offense quiet through the the first three innings, with starting pitcher Luke Barry allowing just two hits in that span, before Franklin got two men on base in the fourth who were driven home on a deep double by Eisig Chin to open the scoring. The Panthers would add another before the end of the inning as Chin came home on a sacrifice bunt by Ben Jarosz to put the hosts up 3-0.

Franklin added a pair of runs in the fifth as Ryan Gerety came home on a dropped third strike before Henry DiGiorgio drove in Chris Goode on a two out single to make it 5-0 and pitcher Jacob Jette and the Panthers continued to cool the Trojan bats for the remainder of the evening, sealing their place in the Division I Final Four.

The Panthers will now face No. 4 Shrewsbury in the semifinals at a location and time to be announced, with the winner moving on to face the winner of No. 2 Taunton, who shut out No. 11 Braintree to make their second Final Four appearance in four years, and No. 3 Catholic Memorial in the Division I championship game.
