Bridgewater salon moves into giant new space with spa and barbershop all under one roof

BRIDGEWATER — One Bridgewater salon aims to meet all your beauty needs — from luxury facials, spa treatments, haircuts and custom coloring — all in one building.

Taunton resident Missy Battaglia, the owner of Revolutions Salon, 15 Fireworks Circle, Unit 3, in Bridgewater, has over 30 years experience in the hair industry but just scratched the surface of her goals.

The hairstylist purchased a building after years of renting a chair, then leasing a commercial space. Finally, she knew it was time to think bigger.

Battaglia closed on the 4,500-square-foot building at 15 Fireworks Circle, which opened to the public on Nov. 29.

Inside the building are several suites with different businesses, including Wander to Bloom, a 1,500-square-foot day spa owned by Beth McDonald and Sarah Rodrigues. And inside Revolutions Salon is also House of Handsome, Missy's sister Jess Battaglia's barbershop service.

Jess Battaglia and McDonald have worked alongside Missy Battaglia for many years.

McDonald and Missy Battaglia met after cosmetology school and worked together for several years, until Missy acquired the salon on 265 Bedford St. in Bridgewater, where McDonald rented a room to service clients.

The three work harmoniously to bring an elevated salon experience to Bridgewater.

The process of creating this space wasn't as smooth as you may imagine, as Missy Battaglia completely rebuilt the salon from the ground up, she said.

Her journey of buying the large commercial building was never a part of her adolescent dreams.

"Growing up in the '80s, going to hair school was viewed as something you did if you didn't have any other options. Hairstylists and their artistry were not as respected as they are today," Missy Battaglia said.

As a teenager, her goal was to attend a prestigious art school and become an artist, but those plans slowly changed.

Money was a giant factor in why Battaglia couldn't attend art college. Then one day, her mother suggested enrolling in cosmetology school.

"Cosmetology school was pretty tough, but I did meet some good people along the way who got me through it. Once I graduated and started taking clients, my career took off," Battaglia said.

Looking back at life now, the entrepreneur is happy with her steps. Life gradually came together.

As it turns out, Battaglia's roots run deep in the world of haircutting. She practically grew up in a barber shop. Her grandfather, a Boston barber, was still cutting hair at the age of 92, she said.

And her grandfather's barber shop chair now makes its home in Revolutions Salon.

"Owning a salon was a natural evolution for me. I never wanted to go to hair school. I never dreamed of being a hairdresser, but now it's my great passion," Battaglia said.

The local salon specializes in color, balayage, waxing and Brazilian blowouts. They also work with every hair type but do not use chemical treatments to change hair texture, such as relaxers or perms.
