Brie Larson's Lessons in Chemistry has released its first trailer ahead of the series' debut on Apple TV+.

The eight-episode series is an adaptation of the bestselling novel of the same name by Bonnie Garmus, following a scientist-turned-TV-star in the 1950s and 60s.

Larson plays protagonist Elizabeth Zott, a brilliant scientist who, after being unjustly fired from her lab, becomes the host of a cooking show which aims to educate women on science.

The trailer sees Elizabeth facing backlash from her male peers over her innovative approach to lab research. After she loses her job, she's hired to become the host of Supper at Six, a programme in which she combines cooking tips and scientific topics that catapults her to stardom.

Lessons in Chemistry also features The Big Bang Theory's Kevin Sussman, Top Gun: Maverick's Lewis Pullman, How to Get Away with Murder's Aja Naomi King and The Flight Attendant's Stephanie Koenig.

Cast is rounded out by Patrick Walker, Thomas Mann, Beau Bridges, Ashley Monique Clark and Derek Cecil.

The show is created by Lee Eisenberg (The Office US, Bad Teacher), with Larson co-producing the series together with Ozark's Jason Bateman and Under the Banner of Heaven's Michael Costigan.

The role of Elizabeth Zott marks Larson's return to the small screen following a brief cameo in the finale of Ms Marvel last year and a three-episode arc in Community between 2013 and 2014.

The Oscar-winning star will reprise the role of Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel in Nia DaCosta's The Marvels, slated for release on November 10 this year.

Lessons in Chemistry is set to stream on Apple TV+ from October 13 worldwide.
