Area Agency on Aging awarded funding to provide vaccination outreach

The Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging, Inc. received funding from USAging’s Aging and Disability Vaccination Collaborative.

This funding will keep individuals informed of the importance of vaccination benefits. The focus will center on older adults and people with disabilities who are most at-risk for negative health consequences and the underserved populations and disadvantaged communities. The grant will support vaccine accessibility, public health events, vaccine clinics, community outreach and education and more.

The agency will host and sponsor vaccine clinics and potentially partner with community organizations, federally qualified health centers, and public health departments in Richland, Crawford, Ashland, Huron, Knox, Marion, Morrow, Seneca and Wyandot counties.

Vaccine outreach events and clinics will be posted on the Area Agency on Aging’s Facebook page and aaa5ohio.org. Gift card incentives will be provided to individuals who receive vaccinations at a clinic sponsored or hosted by the Area Agency on Aging.

Monthly church breakfast is Saturday

Trinity Lutheran Church, 4535 Smeltzer Road, will host its monthly community breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the educational building at the rear of the church. The menu will consist of sausage gravy and biscuits, bacon, sausage, eggs, hash browns, pancakes, Danish, milk, juice and coffee.

The cost is a suggested $7 donation. Everyone is welcome.

The Division of Wildlife as well as the Division of Parks and Watercraft host controlled hunts on select areas around Ohio. Hunts for adults, youth, mobility impaired and mentors with apprentices are available. Species-specific hunts include deer, waterfowl, dove, pheasant, squirrel and quail. Firearm and archery opportunities are available for some species.

Hunters may apply for controlled hunts by completing the application process online using Ohio's Wildlife Licensing System or via phone by calling 1-800-703-1928.
