One road to close, another is now open

Ohio 98, between Opdyke Road and Henry Road, will close Monday for a culvert replacement. The detour route for northbound motorists will be Ohio 98 to Ohio 598, north on Ohio 598 to Ohio 61, south on Ohio 61 to Ohio 98 and reverse for southbound motorists. Work is expected to be completed by June 9.

Also, Lucas-Perrysville Road, between Trumpower Road and the Ashland County Line in Monroe Township, is now open. The road was originally closed on April 17 for a bridge replacement project.

Vaccine clinic at Hawkins Corner

ONTARIO — The Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging Inc., in partnership with UsAging and the Aging and Disability Vaccination Collaborative funded by the Administration for Community Living, will host a vaccine clinic from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday at Hawkins Corner, 2131 Park Avenue West, Door #300, Ontario.

This clinic will be open to all ages and to all District 5 counties. Third Street Family Health Services will administer the COVID-19 booster. Gift cards will be given to those who receive a vaccine at the clinic and complete a short survey.

Individuals who are interested in participating or want additional information on vaccines may call 567-247-6477. Many forms of ID are accepted to verify your name, identity and age. You do not need to show proof of citizenship or residency status.

There is no cost for the vaccine and insurance is not required.

Mobile food pantry returns Tuesday in Galion

GALION — The Galion City Schools, in partnership with the Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio, will hold the Crawford County Mobile Drive-Thru Pantry from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Galion Middle School.

Second Harvest will distribute free assorted boxes of shelf-stable food, fresh produce, frozen meat, milk and more. Those wishing to participate are asked to preregister at bit.ly/sh-fb_May30. Registration is not required but highly recommended. Each household receiving food is required to present a photo ID. Those families who cannot attend but have another individual pick up food for them must preregister and provide a copy of a photo ID to present at the time of food pickup.

Food will only be placed in the trunk. Two households per vehicle are permitted.

BBQ fun in Shelby

SHELBY — Marvin Memorial Library, 29 W. Whitney Ave. in Shelby, will be hosting "BBQ with Ben Lash" at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Blackfork Commons Amphitheatre in downtown Shelby. Ben, owner of the Vault Wine Bar, will teach his BBQ techniques. Afterwards, free samples will be provided.

Everyone is welcome to attend. Bring a lawn chair.
