Bucyrus assisted living facility has new management and name

Carlisle Place Assisted Living in Bucyrus has announced a shift in management companies and a new name — Trustwell Living at Carlisle Place.

Trustwell Living LLC announced this week the management transition and rebranding of 16 communities in Illinois, Florida and Ohio. These communities consist of 762 units of assisted living and memory care services and will expand the company’s portfolio to 21 communities.

The company also announced that it will hire all of the employees at these communities and offer benefits programs designed for employee retention and recruitment.

Professional actor cast as instructor at Bucyrus Little Theatre workshop

Over the last 25 years Scott Leon Smith has made his mark on stages around the country as a professional actor and voice artist. This fall, he will take the stage at Bucyrus Little Theatre as master class instructor for Crawford County’s theater community.

The Bucyrus Little Theatre master class will take place at 1 p.m. Sept. 9 at Bucyrus Little Theatre, 130 Songer Ave. The cost is $25 per student and students must be at least 18 years old. To register, visit BucyrusLittleTheatre.com.

Smith earned a master of fine arts degree in acting from West Virginia University. He went on to hone his craft in Chicago as part of “A Crew of Patches,” a traveling theater company that performed Shakespeare for students. Locally, Smith was active onstage at The Bucyrus Little Theatre, The Crawford Theater Company, The Galion Community Theater, Ohio State University-Mansfield and The Renaissance Theater Company.

New lavender vendor at Saturday's Farmers Market

A new vendor, Abundantly Blessed Lavender Farm, will be among those featured at Saturday's Bucyrus Farmers Market. Scott and Lydia McKnight offer a variety of products made with the fresh lavender that they grew. They also have spearmint leaves to make tea and vanilla extract.

The market will also offer fresh produce, including Lodi and transparent apples, kohlrabi, zucchini, cucumbers, sweet onions, green beans, kale, cabbage, broccoli and garlic. There will also be a variety of meats and baked goods available along with honey, homemade soups, dog treats, and craft items.

The market takes place from 8:30 a.m. to noon in the Family Farm & Home parking lot, 2460 E. Mansfield St., rain or shine until Oct. 28.

Crestline library to eclipse program, puppet show

CRESTLINE — Dan Everly, Lowe Volk Park astronomer, will present a program about next April's solar eclipse at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Crestline Public Library. Crestline will be in the direct path of this event on April 8, 2024. People within a 124-mile-wide band in the state of Ohio will experience a total solar eclipse. Everly will discuss the eclipse and provide safety measures for viewing. Solar glasses will be available.

At 10 a.m. Tuesday, Mr. Puppet visits the Crestline Public Library once again. He brings various puppets sure to bring a smile to all ages.
