Briefs: Crestline PD awarded Ohio First Responder grant

News in brief

State grant to fund two new Crestline Police Department dispatchers

COLUMBUS — The Crestline Police Department will receive $153,237 to hire two full-time dispatchers for two years with sign-on bonuses.

The grant is part of an additional $20 million that Gov. Mike DeWine says will be dedicated to supporting the recruitment and wellness needs of Ohio's first responders.

The announcement brings the total amount of funding for the Ohio First Responder Recruitment, Retention, and Resilience Program to $95 million. A total of $61 million has been awarded to 237 first responder agencies to date. This total includes $11.9 million for 29 agencies announced Wednesday as part of the grant program's sixth round. Grant awards for the remaining $34 million will be announced in the coming months.

Two road closings impacting local traffic

London West Road, between Ohio 61 and Broadway Road in Plymouth Township, will be closed for five days starting Monday, weather permitting. The closure will allow for a bridge repair.

Columbia Avenue in Mansfield is closed for water main repairs. It's expected to reopen Wednesday.
