Briefs: League of Women Voters guide offers information for Tuesday's election

Voter guides now available at several Marion locations

The League of Women Voters of Marion has distributed copies of this year's 2022 Voter Guide in various places around town to be picked up by Marion County voters. This free eight-page publication provides information for voters and can be found in places like Marion Public Library, the YMCA lobby, and Marion Senior Center.

For the general election on Tuesday, the Voter Guide contains descriptive information about local, district, and state contested candidates. On their ballots, voters will need to select candidates for: governor, attorney general, state auditor, secretary of state, state treasurer, two judges of the Ohio Supreme Court, U.S. senator, U.S. representative for the 4th District, state representative for the 86th and 87th District, two judges of the Court of Appeals 3rd District, county commissioner, county auditor, county coroner, and two judges of the Court of Common Pleas (for Marion County).

Two constitutional amendments are also listed on the ballot: Issue I — requirements for courts in setting the amount of bail; and Issue 2 — prohibition of allowing non-electors to vote in local elections. In addition, there are a few local tax levies and issues.

Voter Guide material is also found on-line at VOTE411.org, which includes some additional information about the uncontested candidates as well.

As a convenience, voters can complete the back page Voter Ballot Checklist and take it with them to assist with making choices while they are in the voting booth.

League of Women Voters neither supports nor opposes candidates or political parties. The League works to educate citizens and empower them to exercise their rights. Membership is open to all women and men who are of voting age. Contact LWV of Marion, at PO Box 752, Marion, 43301 or marionleague@yahoo.com.
