Madison trustees approve dump truck purchase

Madison Township trustees voted Monday to use $200,285 of the township’s $685,670 American Rescue Plan Act Allocation balance to pay for a new 2024 Freightliner dump truck for the road department. It will be purchased from the Dexter Company in Bucyrus and delivered in February.

Officials said the U.S. Department of Agriculture currently has no funds available for loans or grants and that using ARPA dollars will save money compared to taking out a loan.

Trustees also learned that township operations should be moved back into the township house by the end of this month following repairs to damage caused by an April windstorm. Trustee Jim Houser said that although there are “several things” that still need to be done to the building, furnishings and records can be moved back in next week.

The board has been meeting in a former car dealership building on Ashland Road since May.
