Holiday goodies to be handed out April 1

Mansfield Mayor Tim Theaker and Mark Abrams, superintendent of the City of Mansfield Parks and Recreation Department, would like to invite the community to the Drive Thru Easter Event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 1 at South Park in Mansfield.

The event will take place in lower South Park. Community traffic will enter from Park Avenue West at the light at West Park and Pinecrest. Mansfield Police Department will help with traffic.

Children will be able to receive a number of Easter goodies from the following sponsors: Smile Doctors; Richland County Children Services; Brightview Treatment Center in Mansfield; First English Lutheran Church; Richland Newhope; The Domestic Violence Shelter; Larry Rawls with Mansfield Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance; Choice Express; Chris Brown for Law Director; Area Agency on Aging District 5; Emerald City Motorcycle Club; Metropolitan Housing; Mansfield Richland County Public Library; Startek; and Evangelist of Christ Motorcycle Club.

Mobile food pantry returns Tuesday in Galion

GALION — The Galion City Schools, in partnership with the Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio, will hold the Crawford County Mobile Drive-Thru Pantry from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Galion Middle School.

Second Harvest will distribute free assorted boxes of shelf-stable food, fresh produce, frozen meat, milk and more. Those wishing to participate are asked to pre-register online prior to the event at freshtrak.com/register/event/150377. Registration is not required but highly recommended. Each household receiving food is required to present a photo ID. Those families who cannot attend but have another individual pick up food for them must pre-register and provide a copy of a photo ID to present at the time of food pick-up.

Food will only be placed in the trunk. Two households per vehicle are permitted.

Camp Canopy registration underway

COLUMBUS — The Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Forestry says registration is now open for the popular Camp Canopy.

Camp Canopy 2023 will explore forests and creeks with sessions focused on Ohio trees, insects, fungi and amphibians. There will also be a session on how Ohio's Native Americans used and managed our forests. Adventure-themed recreational activities such as rifle and shotgun shooting, day and night hiking, and a kayak excursion will round out the week.

The camp runs from June 11-16 at FFA Camp Muskingum on Leesville Lake in Carroll County. Students who have completed the eighth grade through high school seniors graduating in 2023 are invited to attend. Sponsorships are available.
