Briefs: Marion Palace Theatre seeks volunteers

Volunteer orientation to be held Saturday at the Palace Theatre

Marion Palace Theatre Volunteer Coordinator Morgan Schwartz will meet with potential Palace volunteers during an orientation session at 2 p.m. Saturday. The Palace hopes to continue building its volunteer program with individuals ranging from high school juniors and seniors to adults of all ages who wish to give back to the community.

This training session will last approximately one hour and will cover the various ways volunteers can lend a helping hand. The topics to be covered are dress code, procedures, and how individuals sign up to help at the theatre.

There is a large list of positions available when considering volunteering at the Palace. These include, but are not limited to, movie ticket sales, ticket taker, greeters, performance ushers, movie projectionists, and concession stand workers. Volunteers can also assist off-site by delivering posters, table tents, and other marketing materials.

Volunteering at the Palace benefits not only the Theatre but also those giving their time and efforts. Many area high schools require community service hours for graduation. Community involvement plays a significant role in college and employment applications. It also serves as a social tool for networking and even making new friends.

For those who cannot make this meeting, future orientations will occur at least once per quarter so that everyone who wants to be a part of the Palace gets the opportunity to serve. Interested participants and those with questions are asked to contact Morgan Schwartz by email at volunteers@marionpalace.org to reserve a space for this orientation.
