Ohio Mutual recognized with 'A' rating

Ohio Mutual Insurance Group earned a 31st consecutive annual "A" (excellent) Financial Strength Rating (FSR) with a stable outlook from insurance rating organization A.M. Best this week.

The rating includes the three companies that represent Ohio Mutual's intercompany pool: Ohio-domiciled Ohio Mutual Insurance Company, its wholly owned subsidiary United Ohio Insurance Company and Maine-domiciled Casco Indemnity Company — all entities of holding company Ohio Mutual Insurance Group Inc.

In its rating announcement, A. M. Best citied Ohio Mutual's "strongest" balance sheet as well as its "strong operating performance, neutral business profile, and appropriate enterprise risk management."

Ohio Mutual Insurance Group was founded in 1901 and is based in Bucyrus.

Mums featured at Saturday's Farmers Market

Nine-inch potted mums in a variety of colors will be available at Saturday's Bucyrus Farmers Market. Plenty of produce will also be featured, including large heads of cabbage, Macintosh, Cortland, and Jonathan apples, Concord grapes and Asian pears. There will also be baked goods, crafts, honey and more plus Positive Seekers will be grilling for a donation.

The market, which is also collecting pop tabs for Ronald McDonald House Charities, will take place from 8:30 a.m. until noon at 2460 E. Mansfield St. in the Family Farm & Home parking lot every Saturday through Oct. 28.

Tickets on sale for 2023 Statehouse Haunted Tours

COLUMBUS — Tickets for the Ohio Statehouse’s Haunted Tours are now on sale. Tours will take place Oct. 13, Oct. 14, Oct. 20 and Oct. 21 at the state Capitol.

Tickets must be pre-ordered. Ticket prices are $15 for adults ages 18 and older and $7 for students ages 12 to 17, plus a $3 processing fee per order. The tours through the darkened halls of the building depart every half hour between 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Affordable event parking will be available in the Statehouse Underground Garage for $5 beginning at 6 p.m.

Tickets may be purchased online at statehouseshop.com, in-person at the Statehouse Museum Shop on the ground floor of the Ohio Statehouse or by calling 614-728-9234.

Participants will hear spooky tales from Ohio’s past in a manner that combines history with legend. By lantern, guides will lead visitors through one of the country’s oldest functioning capitol buildings to create a ghostly environment that is most appropriate for ages 12 and older.
