Galion-Crestline Chamber announces two summer activities

GALION — The Galion-Crestline Area Chamber of Commerce has announced the return of the Third Friday in Galion (TFIG) street fair/festival/community series, and the launch of Second Thursday In Crestline (STIC). Both of the monthly series will kick off this month, with Crestline’s STIC this Thursday and Galion’s TFIG on June 16.

TFIG and STIC provide the opportunity for both communities to gather and support local merchants, with food trucks and other vendors, live music and other fun, family-friendly activities. Registered vendors will set up in designated spaces around the Crestline Village Square at STIC and the Uptowne Galion Public Square at TFIG. Retailers and restaurants in the area are encouraged to stay open late and offer sales and special deals.

New campaign encourages candidates to run for school board seats

COLUMBUS — The Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA) recently launched its Get on Board campaign, designed to encourage Ohioans to consider serving on their local boards of education.

The Get on Board campaign asks current or incumbent school board members to offer their expertise for an additional term by running for reelection. Additionally, the campaign encourages other community members to consider becoming board members in their local school districts or educational service centers where vacant seats exist.

OSBA has created a website — getonboardohio.org — to address questions on candidate qualifications, running a campaign, and the roles and responsibilities of school board members. The site also offers a section where individuals can recommend potential candidates.
