Ohio State-Mansfield hosting Veterans Day celebration

The Ohio State University at Mansfield is hosting a special Veterans Day celebration open to the public, free of charge with no tickets required, at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial Center. The program will kick off with brunch featuring keynote speaker, Col. Jerry Clark, deputy commander of the 179th Cyber Operations Group at the Ohio Air National Guard.

Following brunch, all are invited to attend a special abbreviated performance featuring excerpts from "A Horse Named Reckless," the Ohio State Mansfield theater program’s upcoming original show that recognizes the 70th anniversary of the Korean War through the true story of a small chestnut mare that fought alongside U.S. Marines and became a decorated war hero.

The campus will be performing "A Horse Named Reckless" at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 12. This show is supported by the Korean War Veterans Association Chapter 51. All shows are free and open to the public with no tickets required.

Marvin Memorial Library hosts traveling exhibit

SHELBY — The Life and Legacy of Frances Perkins Traveling Exhibit is now on display at Marvin Memorial Library through Nov. 11.

In a collaboration with Councilman Garland Gates and the city of Shelby, the library is able to bring you, from the Frances Perkins Center in Newcastle, Maine, this six-panel traveling exhibit portraying the life and legacy of Frances Perkins, who served as secretary of labor from 1933 to 1945 and was the driving force behind the New Deal which focused on labor issues. She was the first woman to serve in a presidential cabinet.

ODA extends H2Ohio deadline to plant cover crops

REYNOLDSBURG — Due to a late harvest and adverse weather conditions, the Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) is extending the 2023 H2Ohio program deadline for planting overwintering cover crops.

H2Ohio producers enrolled in the 24 counties of the Western Lake Erie Basin, including Richland County, will have until Nov. 15 to plant overwintering cover crops.
