Mansfield street closed for sewer repairs

West Longview Avenue from Bowman Street to Springmill Street in Mansfield is closed for sewer main repairs. Work is expected to be completed by next Wednesday. Construction signs have been posted at the work site. Traffic is advised to plan an alternate route to avoid possible delays.

Mansfield church to host dinner Friday

Ridgeway Church of God, 1380 Park Ave. E., will hold a beef and noodles dinner 4:30-6 p.m. Friday. The menu will include beef and noodles, desserts and drinks. The cost is a donation.

MWCD establishes new fund for conservation efforts

NEW PHILADELPHIA — Members of the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District (MWCD) Board of Directors approved investing $5 million to create a fund managed by The Foundation for Appalachian Ohio (FAO) at their meeting on Jan. 27. FAO is a regional community foundation serving Appalachian Ohio’s 32 counties with the mission to create opportunities for Appalachian Ohio’s citizens and communities by inspiring and supporting philanthropy.

The MWCD recently completed a five-year strategic plan which focuses on key areas, including strengthening conservation and sustainability. The plan identifies ways to makes tangible progress toward improving water quality, protecting healthy ecosystems, catalyzing collaborations, and demonstrating sustainability.

The investment to FAO will contribute to their Environmental Stewardship Pillar of Prosperity which aligns with the priorities within the MWCD Conservation Strategic plan.
