Red Cross offering $10 e-gift card for blood donations

The American Red Cross has urged blood donors of all types and those who have never given before to book a time to give blood or platelets now and help keep the blood supply from dropping ahead of the holidays. People of all blood types are needed, especially platelet donors and those with type O blood.

The following blood drives are scheduled in Richland County:

  • Nov. 2: 2 to 7 p.m., Lucas High School, 5 First Ave.

  • Nov. 2: 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Shelby YMCA, 111 W. Smiley Road

  • Nov. 2: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., OSU Mansfield/NC State - Eisenhower Center, 1760 University Drive

  • Nov. 2: noon to 6 p.m., Richland Mall RSMO, 2209 Richland Mall

  • Nov. 5: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Shelby Police Department, 31 Mack Ave

  • Nov. 9: noon to 6 p.m., Richland Mall RSMO, 2209 Richland Mall

  • Nov. 10: noon to 6 p.m., Mosaic at Park Avenue Baptist Church, 296 Park Avenue West, Mansfield

  • Nov. 15: noon to 5 p.m., Berean Baptist, 2145 Middle Bellville Road, Mansfield

Special reconnect order underway for winter heating season

COLUMBUS — The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) has issued the 2022-23 Special Reconnect Order (SRO). Now through April 14, Columbia Gas of Ohio customers can reconnect service or avoid disconnection for the winter heating season for just $175 plus a reconnection fee.

Customers who take advantage of the SRO program must establish a payment plan for their outstanding balance. If service has already been disconnected, reconnection using the SRO requires an additional $36 charge.

Payment assistance is available to those who need it. For more information on the Special Reconnect Order or available payment plans, call Columbia Gas at 1-800-344-4077.

Shelby library to host veterans lunch

SHELBY — Marvin Memorial Library in Shelby will offer "Lunch for Veterans" from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 5 in the Kerr Garden Room. There will be free hot dogs, chips, dessert and drinks for veterans.
