Crawford GOP will have annual dinner on June 8

The Crawford County Republican Central Committee will have its “Lincoln Day Protection of the Constitution and Life Dinner” at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Hord Family Farms Visitation Center, 911 Ohio 98 South, Bucyrus.

Featured speakers will be state Rep. Brian Stewart (R-12, Ashville); Beth Vanderkooi, executive director of Greater Columbus Right to Life; and Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose.

Stewart was the primary house sponsor of the “Ohio Constitution Protection Amendment,” which requires a 60% vote to approve any amendment to the Ohio Constitution, which voters will decide in a special election in August.Tickets for the dinner are $25. Freedom Recovery joins GCACC office

GALION — The Galion-Crestline Area Chamber of Commerce has welcomed Freedom Recovery as both a new chamber member and as an office suite member at 138 Harding Way West, Galion.

Founded by a few individuals who are themselves in recovery, Freedom Recovery is now offering counseling and education services to individuals in or around Galion.

Freedom Recovery's intensive outpatient program is designed for substance abusers who need immediate help but for whom a residential-based program is not an option due to jobs, families and other obligations.

They accept all Medicaid and many other insurance plans, and offer both daytime and evening substance abuse and addiction counseling treatment sessions to accommodate most work schedules. Freedom Recovery uses a proven 12-step model of recovery and an evidence-based curriculum, and they are Commission of Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) accredited.

Council on Aging celebrates Older Americans Month

More than 60 seniors attended the Crawford County Council on Aging’s Older Americans Month celebration, “Aging is a Circus” on May 25. The event featured an outdoor resource fair where vendors offered carnival-type games and seniors won prizes.

Inside, seniors could get their photos taken with Ashley the clown, free corn dogs provided by ADM Benefit Plans, free Mark’s Homemade Ice Cream provided by Carlisle Place, free cotton candy provided by a COA volunteer and free popcorn provided by the nonprofit.
