Briefs: Richland County road closings, TAP grants available, St. Peter's School fundraiser

Engineer's office announces upcoming road closures

The Richland County Engineer's Office has announced Millsboro Road, between Bowers Road and Ohio 314 in Springfield Township, will be closed starting Monday and will remain closed until Wednesday.

Olivesburg-Fitchville Road, between Nelson Road and Ohio 96 in Butler/Weller Townships, will be closed June 20 to June 22.

Both road closures are due to culvert replacement projects.

Local teachers can apply for classroom grants

Local educators have been invited to submit grant applications to the Richland County Foundation.

Teacher Assistance Program (TAP) grants of up to $1,500 each are selected by a community committee for classroom projects not covered by school funding. The grants are given to K-12 teachers in public or private Richland County schools to encourage them to carry out effective programs for their students.

Mansfield City School teachers have two additional opportunities: Field Trip and Family Involvement Activity and Fine Arts Fund grants.

The applications are available at richlandcountyfoundation.org with a June 25 deadline. For information contact Community Investment Officer Siera Marth-May at smarth@rcfoundation.org or 419-525-3020.

Bourbon tasting event to support St. Peter's School

St. Peter's School will have a bourbon-tasting fundraiser from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Dan Lew Exchange Kobacker Room in downtown Mansfield. All proceeds from the event will go to support St. Peter's School.

This formal event will feature premium bourbons and wines, a gourmet charcuterie station and a string quintet.

"We are launching several new initiatives for the 2023-24 school year, including a new middle school program, increased STEM and hands-on science classes and additional honors courses. As always, St. Peter's will continue to emphasize virtues, service and moral decision-making, that prepare our students to navigate an increasingly complex world," said Laurie McKeon, head of school. "We are grateful to be the beneficiary of such a premiere event and will provide necessary funding for these new initiatives."

To make a reservation, contact Jason Crundwell at 419-524-2572 x2125 or Crundwell.Jason@myspartans.org. Limited spots are available. Due to the unique offerings at this event, the price is $750 per person.
