Richland County awarded federal funding to improve traffic safety

The Ohio Department of Public Safety's Ohio Traffic Safety Office (OTSO) has awarded $69,975 in federal traffic safety funding to the Richland County Sheriff's Office for fiscal year 2023.

"These funds are critical in ensuring that we are doing everything we possibly can to keep our local community safe," said Sheriff Steve Sheldon. "Based on crash data, speeding, impaired driving, seat belt usage and other traffic-related laws are a priority for Richland County."

The funds are passed through OTSO from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to focus on traffic safety priority areas such as restraint use, impaired driving, motorcycle safety and youthful drivers.
