Briefs: Road projects to impact local traffic

News in brief

Stage 3 of Shelby streetscape project underway

SHELBY — Ohio 39/96 (Main Street) at the Ohio 39 (Mansfield Avenue/Broadway Street) intersection is open to traffic as is Ohio 61 (Gamble Street) at the Ohio 39/96 intersection, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation's update on the Shelby streetscape project.

Phase 1 of the third stage has begun with construction on the north side of Ohio 39/96 (Main Street). Crews will be installing sidewalks and crosswalks, completing streetscape items and drainage system improvements. Phase 1 work is expected to be completed by Aug. 31. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers on the north side of Ohio 39/96 during construction, but side road and alley closures will be needed to complete this work.

The second part of Phase 3, which involves construction on the south side of Ohio 39/96 (Main Street) will begin around Sept. 1. Work is weather dependent and subject to change. Crews will install sidewalks and crosswalks, complete streetscape items and drainage system improvements. Estimated completion of the second phase is Sept. 30.

Work on the entire project is expected to be finished in November.
