Road projects to impact traffic this week

The Ohio Department of Transportation says the U.S. 30 east exit ramp to Koogle Road is closed until Sunday for pavement repairs. The detour route for the exit ramp is to stay on U.S. 30 east and use the Ohio 603 r-cut to transition back to U.S. 30 west exit ramp to Koogle Road.

The Koogle Road entrance ramp to U.S. 30 east is also closed until Sunday for pavement repairs. The detour route for the entrance ramp will be to use the Koogle Road entrance ramp to U.S. 30 west, continue to the Reed Road interchange, and transition back to U.S. 30 east.

The Richland County Engineer's Office says Possum Run Road between Touby Road and Trease Road in Washington Township closed Tuesday and will remain closed for 30 days. The closure will allow for a bridge replacement.

Gov. DeWine announces local appointments

COLUMBUS — Gov. Mike DeWine has announced the appointment of more than two dozen individuals to statewide boards and commissions. Among them are two from Richland County.

C. Daniel Bradford of Mansfield has been reappointed to the Rare Disease Advisory Council for a term beginning that began May 26, 2023, and ends April 22, 2025.

Mark C. Adams of Bellville has been appointed to the Ohio Standardbred Development Commission for a term beginning July 1, 2023, and ending June 30, 2027.

Richland County Children Services adds recreational activity for foster families

Richland County Children Services has arranged with local business owner Jim Heenan of Kelly’s Dairy Bar for Richland County foster care children and their foster parents to play mini golf at Kelly’s at no charge for the rest of the year. (The cost of food and drinks is not included.) Kelly’s Dairy Bar is at 1280 S. Main St. in Mansfield.

Children Services is need of foster parents. The next round of expedited training classes for foster parents begins Saturday. The classes are free and run through July 11. Anyone interested in becoming a foster parent can contact Susie Curatti at 419-774-4158 or susan.curatti@jfs.ohio.gov. More information about the RCCS foster/adopt process can be found at richlandcountychildrenservices.org.

Walk & Talks return to Marvin Memorial Library

SHELBY — "Library Walk & Talks" return Monday at the Marvin Memorial Library. Participants will meet at 6 p.m. every Monday through Aug. 28 in the library's lobby at 29 W. Whitney Ave. This activity includes visiting a number of Shelby City landmarks along with nature walks. All are welcome to attend. Wear comfy shoes and bring a water bottle.
