The first training on motivational interviewing will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. June 26 at Hawkins Corner, 2131 Park Avenue West, Suite 200, Ontario. Lunch will be provided and CEUs will be available. Participants will learn skill-building exercises designed to assist them in utilizing person-centered approaches and engage people in change discussions. They will practice strategies to respond to resistance in work settings for individuals with severe and persistent mental illness and/or substance use disorders.

The second free training — peer recovery support certification — is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Aug. 14-18 at Richland County Job and Family Services, 171 Park Avenue East, Mansfield. Lunch will be provided. A peer recovery supporter is an individual who has been successful in the recovery process.
