Briefs: United Church Homes, Ohio’s Hospice announce strategic alliance

New alliance to support older adults

Ohio-based United Church Homes (UCH) and Ohio’s Hospice announced a new strategic alliance, pairing UCH’s national multisite network of residential, health care and support services for older adults with Ohio’s Hospice and Pure Healthcare’s palliative and hospice care services.

The vision for this alliance is to bring together resources, collaborative networks, geographic coverage, and capabilities to design and implement innovative offerings for the benefit of those with chronic, serious, complex and life-threatening illnesses, housing, or social needs.

"We expect this strategic alliance’s impact will transform healthcare and provide value and improve the quality of many lives in which we are privileged to serve," noted Ohio Hospice Chief Executive Officer Kent Anderson.

“This growth and evolution does not fundamentally change who we are but allows us to expand upon what we’re already doing in even better ways,” said Rev. Dr. Kenneth Daniel, president and chief executive officer.

This relationship is not new for UCH and Ohio’s Hospice but a deeper form of affiliation. In 2019 the two joined together forming Ohio’s Hospice at United Church Homes, offering hospice services in more than three communities across the UCH footprint.

The OhioHealth Marion General facilities team created a beautiful recycling container (shown here) for the hospital lobby where these wraps can be collected and recycled.

All care sites have plastic blue wraps that cover sterile instruments in surgery that have been historically thrown out. The team was curious about how prevent this waste, so with the help of the facilities team, the wraps will be made into reusable bags.

“We are really proud of our team for bringing this issue to light to help eliminate waste in Marion," said Dr. Curt Gingrich, president, OhioHealth Marion General Hospital.
