Briggs' pick: Leaning toward Rockets in Toledo-Bowling Green matchup

Nov. 9—Here is how The Blade sports columnist David Briggs sees the Toledo-Bowling Green rivalry football game game shaking out Wednesday night.

It might seem odd that a game Toledo has won 10 times in the past 11 years — and is a 10-point favorite this year — would feel so up in the air.

But you've seen these Rockets.

The Powerball is easier to pick.

UT has been favored by at least nine points against four FBS teams this season. It beat one of them (one-win UMass). Now we expect the Rockets to have it easy against a Bowling Green team that knows just enough football to be dangerous? (Ask Minnesota or Buffalo last week). I don't see it, though, ultimately, I'm leaning toward the Rockets.

If nothing else, Toledo should be able to dial up a steady dose of Bryant Koback runs through the Falcons' 107th-ranked rush D (194 yards per game).

Pick: Toledo 34, Bowling Green 28.
