PLEASANTON, CA — Want to help your neighbors in need enjoy the holidays? Tri-Valley Haven is seeking donations of cash and gift cards to help provide more than 3,400 locals with holiday meals and gifts.

Tri-Valley Haven prefers cash donations, which can be directed to its biggest needs, the nonprofit said in a statement. It also seeks $20 gift cards to Target, Walmart and Kohl's to allow families to shop for holiday items.

"This year, we need your assistance more than ever," Tri-Valley Haven said. "With you help, local families, children, teens, women, men and seniors in economic need will be able to celebrate, cook their own food and develop their own holiday traditions."

Families will receive pre-bagged food and a gift card. Thanksgiving turkey pick-ups will take place Nov. 23 and holiday gifts will be distributed Dec. 12. The drive-thru distribution events will be held outside of Asbury Church (4743 East Ave., Livermore).

Donations can be dropped off or mailed to Tri-Valley Haven (3663 Pacific Ave., Livermore, CA, 94550; open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Attention: Holiday Program).

Patch has partnered with Feeding America to help raise awareness on behalf of the millions of Americans facing hunger. Feeding America, which supports 200 food banks across the country, estimates that in 2020, more than 54 million Americans will not have enough nutritious food to eat due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. This is a Patch social good project; Feeding America receives 100 percent of donations. Find out how you can donate in your community or find a food pantry near you.
