After nearly a decade in business, downtown Brighton fashion boutique Bink & Babs Boutique is closing.

The store, at 334 W. Main St., is selling off inventory, including women's clothing and accessories.

Barb Binkley said she and her husband Mark Binkley will close the boutique at the end of April.

Barb Binkley said they will focus on their other business, Cooper & Binkley Jewelers.

"The boutique was something we felt Main Street needed at time. We thought it was fun," she said. "When we would travel with the kids, we'd go to towns and see boutique with woman's fashion and fun things, and we thought Brighton needed something like that."

She said they founded in the store in 2012 after their youngest went off to college and they became empty nesters.

Bink & Babs Boutique leased the space, which will get a new store. While Barb Binkley declined to say what will come to the space next, she said it will be retail.

"There is something great coming, and that was very important to us. Having retail on Main Street was really important to us, especially when we think about Brighton as a destination," she said. "We have ladies who meet for lunch who come from all over, have lunch and shop in the shops, and we want to make sue that will always be here."

Cooper & Binkley Jewelers has been in Barb Binkley's family for more than 50 years. She said the couple took it over about 35 years ago.

"That will be around forever. Cooper & Binkley is the mainstay," she said.

The jewelry store has a strong customer base, she said, and presence on social media.

"It's growing by leaps and bounds, with people driving from all over for engagement rings," Binkley added.

She said she enjoyed participating in shopping events, fundraisers and other community activities through Bink & Babs Boutique.

"We had fun doing events, like with Renee Chodkowski, who is known as 'The Great Foodini,' and fundraisers. We did Facebook Live fashion shows, even before the pandemic."

She said she is grateful she can continue to be involved in fundraisers and communities events through Cooper & Binkley Jewelers.

"I'm still at Cooper & Binkley, so I'm not going to have to miss that," Binkley said.
