New Brighton to host Beaver County's Veterans Day parade

NEW BRIGHTON – As residents around Beaver County honor local veterans, families may want to make some time to view the county's parade Friday morning.

Members of the New Brighton American Legion Post 19 will be hosting the Beaver County Veterans Day parade this year, bringing together the community to honor those who fought for the United States. The march through the borough will begin at 10:30 a.m. and feature marching bands from local school districts, veterans' organizations and various civic groups from the region.

According to the borough, the parade will begin at the intersection of Third Avenue and 13th Street on Friday morning. The parade will then continue along Third until it reaches Townsend Park on Sixth Street, where the parade will conclude.

Due to the path of the parade, parking will be restricted along Third before the event. From 9 a.m. to noon, no parking will be permitted on Third from 16th Street to Fifth Street and from Second Street to Fifth Avenue.

Those interested in participating in the parade are asked to contact John Meanor by phone at 724-846-7927 or via email at alpost19@comcast.net as soon as possible. The borough notes that all candy must be handed out and not thrown from moving vehicles. Additionally, no political advertisements will be allowed at the parade.

Lawrence County residents will also be celebrating Veterans Day with a parade in New Castle on Friday morning. According to the county's website, the parade will begin at 11 a.m. along E. Washington Street in downtown. Those wishing to participate can call the VFW at 724-658-8257.
