Brillhart and Leach take royal titled at Smithville Homecoming

SMITHVILLE − Maddilyn Brillhart was named homecoming queen and Taylor Leach princess at the basketball game between Smithville and Hillsdale on Friday.

Brillhart is the daughter of Randy and Heidi Brillhart. She is captain of the soccer team, president of Foreign Language Club, member of the track team and is in National Honor Society. She is an active member in her church. She plans to attend Heidelberg University where she will study environmental science and play soccer.

Leach is the daughter of Tim and Jamie Leach. She is captain of the soccer team, involved in her church, a part of the International Barrel Racing Association and enjoys silversmithing. After graduation, she plans to work, attend disciple training school, and participate in global outreach missions.

Senior attendants were Emily Curtis and Brooke Smith. Curtis is the daughter of Gwendolyn and Eric Miller. She is a member of the marching band, concert band, and pep band. She is on the prom action team. She enjoys playing flute and piano. She plans to attend cosmetology school after graduation. Smith is the daughter of Rick and Margo Smith. She is a varsity cheerleader, cheer captain, in National Honor Society and a member of the SHS choir. She plans to attend the University of Akron to study pre-law.

Sophia Besancon and Adeline Thorn were junior attendants. Besancon is the daughter of Burney Besancon and Richelle Carpenter. She is a varsity cheerleader, part of Literacy Leaders, on the pep rally and hallway hospitality teams and is involved in her church youth group. Thorn is the daughter of Scott and Melissa Thorn. She plays soccer and is on the track team. She is in National Honor Society, on the hallway hospitality action team and is active in her church youth group.

Sophomore attendants were Madison Singer and Alyson Wickens. Singer is the daughter of Brandon and Tanya Singer. She is a member of the volleyball and basketball teams. She is in Foreign Language Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and is on the LEAD team. She participates in intramurals, the hallway hospitality action team and is active in her church youth group. Wickens is the daughter of Mike and Heather Wickens. She is a member of the soccer and basketball teams. She is in Foreign Language Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and is on the LEAD team. She participates in intramurals, the hallway hospitality action team,and is active in her church youth group.

Isabella Messenger and Morgan Shutt were freshman attendants. Messenger is the daughter of Doug and Heidi Messenger. She is a cheerleader, member of the marching and pep bands, in Foreign Language Club, an elementary student mentor and is on the softball team. She is a part of multiple action teams. Shutt is the daughter of Mike and Jennifer Shutt. She is on the volleyball and softball teams. She is a part of the mentoring action team, plays JO volleyball and is active in her church.

Chloe Cannon, 2022 homecoming queen, returned to SHS to crown the royalty. She attends Kent State University where she is majoring in interior design. She was escorted by crown bearer Daniel Warrens and flower girl Janna Warrens. They are the children of Nick and Jacqueline Warrens. CR Blooms in Wooster donated the roses for homecoming.

Following the basketball game, Winter Overtime was held in the high school cafeteria and GMS gym. Activities included mechanical bull riding, 9 Square in the Air, basketball, corn hole, and card games. Pizza and chips were also served.
