Britain’s Got Talent Accused Of ‘Fix’ After Beau Dermott Is Revealed As A Stage School Trainee

Britain’s Got Talent chiefs have been criticised for keeping secret sensation Beau Dermott’s past as a trained stage school performer.

The 12-year-old, who wowed with her singing on Saturday’s show, has had four years’ of singing lessons in a top arts establishment – despite her mum saying it was a “big thing” for her to perform.

But no mention was made of her training and her mum said: “To get up on stage is a really big thing.”

When Dermott auditioned, she told judges she was nervous but then belted out Defying Gravity from the musical Wicked.

Amanda Holden pressed her golden buzzer and sent her to the live semi-finals.

Her fellow judge David Walliams, above with BGT boss Simon Cowell, said: “Everyone else might as well go home.”

But still no reference was made to the fact Dermott, from Widnes, Cheshire, below with her mother, has had monthly vocal coaching at the StagePro Academy in Warrington.

The girl has also won Halton’s Got Talent and Warrington’s Got Talent.

Last night a show spokesman told the Daily Star, which carried a front page stating the show was at the centre of a ‘fix’ storm over the girl’s training: “Beau had singing lessons once a month for the past four years with StagePro.”

Show boss Cowell has also been criticised for ‘recycling’ acts from foreign versions of the series in this year’s competition, many of whom are also veteran performers.

Responding to the story, a Britain’s Got Talent spokesperson said: “This story is ridiculous. Beau had singing lessons once a month for the past four years at Stage Pro Academy.

“Just because she has had singing lessons, it doesn’t mean that she doesn’t get nervous when performing as was stated on the show. Adele, who is the biggest selling artist in the world, suffers from nerves when performing, so it’s not surprising to think that Beau would as well, especially given that she is a 12 year old schoolgirl.”
