Britain's Got Talent has been hit by hundreds of Ofcom complaints following a controversial fire stunt.

The ITV reality show, which returned last weekend, has already seen a number of acts hit the stage hoping to impress the judges and be in for a chance to win a cash prize and the chance to perform at the Royal Variety Performance.

However, one act has proved controversial with viewers and garnered Ofcom complaints after appearing on the show.

On Sunday night's episode (April 16), stuntman Thomas Vu attempted to solve a Rubik's Cube in front of the audience and judging panel while on fire.

The performer, who was covered in fire retardant gel, left the audience and judges shocked, and on the same night the episode aired Ofcom received 66 complaints.

The following day, this rose to 334, with some complaints also being aimed at "fartist" Ichikawa Koikuchi who performed tricks on stage utilising flatulence, such as blowing candles on a birthday cake out.

Judge Bruno Tonioli, who replaces David Walliams in this series, spoke of his shock at the windy act from the Japanese entertainer.

He explained on Friday's This Morning: "To be honest, I don't think this is right for King Charles. It was hysterical because I'm not really into all of that stuff but what was funny was he kept getting it all wrong, there wasn't enough gas!"

Elsewhere, hopeful act Amy Lou Smith gave birth to her baby girl hours before her sensational audition aired.

The singer from Tipton, who cradled her bump on stage, wowed judges Bruno, Amanda Holden, Simon Cowell and Alesha Dixon with a rendition of Beyoncé song 'Listen'.

"I am so overwhelmed with all the love and support I've received from being on the show. I cannot put into words how in love we are with our perfect little girl. She's made the family complete," the singer told The Mirror.

She earned four yes's from the judges, moving on to the next stage of the competition.

Britain's Got Talent airs on ITV1 and ITVX.
