A teenage British boy in Tenerife who stabbed his parents then reportedly tried to kill himself by jumping out of a window is in a serious condition.

The 15-year-old threw himself from the family’s home which is several stories high, according to police.

The family is believed to live in Tenerife, rather than being holidaymakers.

Earlier reports said the teenager had thrown himself down a steep ravine after attacking his parents.

All three members of the family are now being treated in various Tenerife hospitals, with the son at a different medical centre from his parents and under police guard.

According to reports, the mother was taken to a health centre, near Los Cristianos, in Arona.

The father is being treated at the University Hospital Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria in the north of the island.

The incident happened close to a bus station in the resort area of Costa Adeje on the holiday island, and was witnessed by tourists.

The family are thought to live in Costa Adeje.

Police have described the attack as very violent and have launched an investigation.

At this stage, it is being treated as a case of family domestic violence and the mental state of the teenager is believed to have contributed to the attack.

It is estimated that some 45,000 Britons live in Tenerife.

The incident comes just days after Michael Lewis, 23, and from Rhyl, north Wales, died in Tenerife while on holiday with his friends after being attacked in the streets.

It was reported earlier this week that two men have been arrested over the seemingly random attack.

Michael, also known as Liam Bolland - or “Brillo” - was staying in the Playa Real Hotel in Costa Adeje.
