British Couple Drives Through Wildfire in Devon

A British couple drove past a growing wildfire on Dartmoor, in Devon, on March 28.

Footage by Jane and Rich Dickinson shows the pair driving as flames rage to the left of their vehicle. The footage also shows smoke filling up the vehicle.

In a Facebook post, Jane wrote: “Edge of dartmoor, one minute driving toward it, the next we couldn’t see a thing but really felt the heat from the flames against the car and the smoke started to come in through the vents.”

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said firefighters were tackling a large gorse fire on Dartmoor near the village of Mary Tavy and that the road leading into the town was closed in both directions from Tavistock to Okehampton. Credit: Jane and Rich Dickinson via Storyful
