A British entrepreneur living in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, allowed tenants who have been financially affected by COVID-19 to move in on June 5 and stay in one of his apartments for free for two months.

Simon Kennedy offered his apartment to a couple from South Africa who “sold everything to move to Dubai in February, but lost their jobs due to COVID, and are nearly out of money.” Kennedy had encouraged people financially struggling to send him a video of themselves explaining how they would use the two months living rent-free “to turn your situation around.”

“I would encourage all Dubai landlords and business owners to try and contribute in whatever way they can, because there is so much need out there,” Kennedy said. “People are literally sleeping outside in this heat, companies aren’t paying their staff, and many are suffering,” he added.
