The British LGBT Awards celebrate role models and organisations within the LGBTQ+ community every year.
Founded in 2015, the awards have recognised LGBTQ+ celebrities such as Stephen Fry and Tom Daley as well as allies like Prince William and Kylie Minogue.
The nominees for this year’s awards have been revealed, with RuPaul, Lizzo, Amber Gill and Emma D’Arcy among the shortlisted.
Among those nominated is drag queen Cheddar Gorgeous, who said on Twitter: “Omg I got nominated for an award!! Go check me and the other Media Moment nominees out!”
Swimmer Michael Gunning, who was nominated for the sports personality award, said: “Over the moon to have been nominated for the Sports Personality of the Year Award at this years British LGBT Awards!
“What a wonderful surprise and such an honour to be listed alongside such a star-studded lineup! Massive well done to all the nominees, I’m so proud of us all!”
