Britney Spears' husband Sam Asghari has filed for divorce.
According to NBC News, the couple have separated and Asghari subsequently made the divorce filing on the grounds of "irreconcilable differences".
The filing was made at the Superior Court of Los Angeles and indicated that Asghari is seeking spousal support and attorney fees in his split from the 'Hit Me Baby One More Time' popstar.
The divorce filing states: "Petitioner has yet to determine the full nature and extent of the separate property assets and obligations of each party.

"Petitioner reserves the right to amend this Petition or to conform the Petition to proof."
According to various media reports, Asghari has begun the process of moving out of the home he has shared with Spears in California. He posted on Instagram on Thursday (August 17), saying "After 6 years of love and commitment to each other my wife and I have decided to end our journey together. We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other and I wish her the best always. Shit happens. Asking for privacy seems ridiculous so I will just ask for everyone including media to be kind and thoughtful."

The couple were wed in July 2022 in a private ceremony at their Los Angeles home, where Spears wore a Versace dress and travelled in a princess carriage in front of a star-studded guest list.
Spears originally met Asghari on the set of her music video 'Slumber Party', and subsequently announced their engagement weeks before her conservatorship was terminated in November 2021.
The singer has previously been married twice, first to Jason Alexander and later to dancer-rapper Kevin Federline between 2004 and 2007. She has two sons with Federline — Sean Preston and Jayden James.
Earlier this summer, Spears announced that she would be releasing a long-awaited memoir called The Woman in Me on October 24. The autobiography has been described as "a brave and astonishingly moving story about freedom, fame, motherhood, survival, faith, and hope".
Spears also recently made headlines for an encounter with NBA star Victor Wembanyama, where she was allegedly struck in the face by a member of his entourage. No charges were filed in the case.
