Britney Spears Insists She’s “Not Having a Breakdown” Despite Fans’ Concerns

Britney Spears's fans have been working overtime trying to make sure the pop star is doing okay despite her seemingly alarming online behavior, but in a statement over the weekend, Spears insisted she is fine, and just being herself now that she finally can.
The "Oops!…I Did It Again" singer returned to Instagram this weekend after a brief hiatus and shared a series of posts, including stock photos, memes, and videos of her dancing at home. Next to a close-up professional photo of a rose in the cold, Spears responded to people's ongoing concerns for her mental health.
"Since everyone thinks they know my story. THINK AGAIN !!!" she wrote. "Nope I’m not having a breakdown … I am who I am and moving forward in my life. I have never felt better !!!"
Spears noted that she was stripped of her voice during her 13-year conservatorship, and now that she's free, she wants to be able to do whatever she wants without being judged.
"Nope, I’m not this girl or that girl … I am River Red … and being able to volumize my voice in a world where I lost my rights … for 15 years … gives me an opportunity to succeed !!! Opportunity to know I matter and maybe if you walked in my shoes, then maybe just maybe you could understand," she continued. "Still learning this no rules thing … I don’t think so limited … I feel younger and in awe … unfortunately I’m boring as hell and drink hot chocolate at night !!! I’ve waited nearly 15 years to drink alcohol only to realize I hate it !!! It makes me sad and I feel bloated, although food tastes better ... Stay blessed and driven … SIT DOWN AND STAY HUMBLE … Nahhh, I’d rather show my ass !!!"
She ended her post by saying that the only reason she took down her Instagram for a few days and then reopened it is "because I can !!!"
After Spears deactivated her Instagram account last week, a group of worried fans called police to ask that they go check on the singer at her home. A spokesperson for the Ventura County Sheriff's Office told TMZ that police eventually did go to Spears's Calabasas, California, home and determined there was no reason to believe she was in danger.
On Twitter two days later, Spears reacted to the incident and asked fans to give her space.
"As everyone knows the police were called to my home based on some prank phone calls," the "Toxic" she wrote. "I love and adore my fans but this time things went a little too far and my privacy was invaded."
