Britney Spears has shared her joy after finally meeting long-time pal Lance Bass’ 20-month-old twins after he previously claimed he was blocked from seeing her.

Spears, 41, and the NSYNC star, 44, developed a firm friendship after finding fame in the music industry back in the late Nineties.

However, in recent years the musician admitted that they had struggled to see one another, claiming he had been “kept away” from her “for years” as she fought to end her conservatorship.

Now together again, Spears shared her delight after meeting his twins — Violet Berry and Alexander James — who he welcomed in October 2021 with husband Michael Turchin.

Describing herself as an “new auntie”, the pop icon posted photos of herself holding one of the twins while Bass held the other alongside Spears’ husband Sam Asghari.

Taking to Twitter on Monday, she wrote: “I’m a new auntie for Lance’s babies!!! They are absolutely gorgeous babies!!!”

Bass, who attended Spears and Asghari’s wedding last year, claimed he had been “kept away” from the singer as she attempted to end her 13-year conservatorship.

He shared on the Heather Dubrow’s World podcast in 2021: “I haven’t spoken to her for years. We’ve been kept away from each other for quite a while.”

Then last May, Bass told Page Six that he had made numerous efforts to get in touch with her, but had been blocked by her team.

However in June, Bass confirmed that the Hold Me Closer hitmaker had “reached out through her people” in hopes of reuniting to “meet the kids and all that”.

Addressing their attempts to rekindle their friendship, he claimed that Spears' handlers sought to “stop” their reunion, noting the number of people he had to speak with to get a word with his longtime friend.

He said on his iHeartRadio podcast Frosted Tips in June: “You have to talk through people. It’s very strange.”

Back in 2021, Bass learned he was a sixth cousin, once removed, of Spears on Ancestry series of 2 Lies & A Leaf. It means the pop star has an even greater claim as being auntie to Bass’s twins, not just as a friend but as family.

After learning of their family connection, Bass said: “This is amazing — oh my gosh! Look, I wanted to be related to the Queen. Well, now I'm related to the queen of pop!

“That is so crazy though cause, I mean, I feel like she's my little sister, and this whole time she's been my little cousin.

“And it makes sense because we were born an hour from each other. This is so cool.

“For some reason, I always felt like we looked like family, even when we were kids.

“I mean, this means so much to me.

“She is like family to me, so the fact that we are blood-related is amazing.”
